After a very busy year thus far, our Colonial team enjoyed some downtime to partake in a little competitive fun at our Annual Bean Bag Tournament. We took advantage of a lovely day during the last of the Maine summer on our property at company headquarters in South Portland. It’s always a great Colonial family gathering, full of laughs, good food, and camaraderie. This year we were also joined by three of our catastrophic adjusters which served to enhance the team building outcome.
Our group of talented and committed staff never ceases to amaze me. I am so proud of every Colonial family member and the daily effort each puts forth, so it’s important to me that we also enjoy some relaxation and enjoyment together as well.
Congratulations to this year’s champions – Property Trainee, Scott Madden, and Senior Property/Casualty Adjuster, Andrea Smith!
On September 14th we held our first in-person company meeting since 2019! As COVID had kept us apart as a large group for three years, our meeting theme was, “Bringing the family back together.” For us to provide our clients with the best service possible many of our adjusters work remotely so we can effectively cover the entire states of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Due to this fact, our Annual Company Meeting is the primary opportunity for us to be all together as a team. In addition to celebrating our Colonial family, we reviewed market conditions, client services, and how we can remain current and continue to advance as a company. It also provided an ideal setting for our staff to participate in valuable peer to peer collaboration.
The annual meeting also affords us the opportunity to recognize individuals who have proven themselves throughout the year. The following … Read More
On July 8th, a Colonial Adjustment team of golfers teed off for a great cause, participating in the 20th Wish Kids Golf Classic. It was a nice opportunity to have a team of some of our golf enthusiasts get out on the greens again to raise money for this important charity. Proceeds from the Wish Kids Golf Classic go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Vermont to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. As a family-first company, we love to support programs such as this that go directly to helping children and families.

This past weekend, members of our Colonial family participated in the Dynamic Dirt Challenge at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. It was a demanding 3+ mile obstacle course designed to challenge all around strength, stamina, and mental grit. This team building activity certainly helped our group discover a new level of camaraderie as we worked together to achieve a true sense of collective accomplishment, cheer one another on, and of course, have a great time and some laughs!

We are enjoying being able to get out together on the greens again for this important fundraiser, and I particularly appreciated being able to play with my boys who are becoming skilled golfers themselves (often surpassing their dad!).
This fundraiser supports the CPCU organization which promotes excellence through ethical behavior, resources, and continuing education to enable individuals to expand their technical insurance skills and business capabilities. The CPCU designation is the foremost credential for insurance and adjusting professionals who specialize in risk management and property-casualty insurance. We congratulate those who have obtained this distinguished appointment in their career!

We took advantage of having the majority of our team together for our Annual Meeting this year, and held our 1st Quarter Employee Appreciation Event at a local bowling alley the evening before. It’s important to us to give our hard working staff a chance to relax together and build comradery. We enjoyed some healthy competition, food and beverages, and the chance to kick back together in the lanes. The winning team was Scott Kidder, Luke Provost, and Barclay Scheick.
